Dom Forsdike

Dom is our Head Coach and brings unwavering dedication and professionalism to his role. Originally from the UK, Dom has 14 years of international coaching experience working his way from assistant coach at his home club in England through to senior level coaching positions in America, the UK and Australia.

Dom spent four years in America playing college tennis during which he trained alongside some of the highest ranked NCAA players in the country. He spent a further two years coaching at the prestigious Portland Country Club and Lights Out Tennis Academy in New England training future collegiate players. He then returned to England and took up the Head Coach role for the University of Kent men’s and women’s teams.

Armed with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Sports Management, Dom holds a USPTA Level 3, LTA Level 2, and ATPCA Level 2 Coaching Certifications. Dom has coached all levels of players and possesses a specialisation in developing high performance players.

As a player, Dom was a successful junior player reaching a rank of #9 in Kent. He also played and captained for the #5 nationally ranked North Carolina Wesleyan College in America from 2008-2012.

Dom’s coaching style focuses on meeting individual goals by setting personal schedules and then training closely with them in regular conditioned practices. He hopes to build a performance program in Coogee and one day develop the next Leyton Hewitt and Ashley Barty.

Dom loves that tennis is addictive, fun, active and challenging all at the same time and he enjoys teaching the mental side of the game. He says that what makes Eastern Suburbs Tennis club stand out is the beautiful location, positive vibe and strong coaching team.

Cameron Griffiths

From an early age Cameron participated in a number of sports with Football, Badminton and Tennis being his three main activities. Out of the three sports it soon became clear that racket sports was where his main interests and skills started to excel, playing county standard badminton and becoming one of the youngest qualified level 1 coaches. Meanwhile he was quietly developing his tennis skills again playing to county standards and finally made the decision to concentrate on a tennis coaching career whilst still at college. He attained his BTEC Extended diploma in Sport and his level 1 and level 2 Tennis LTA coaching qualifications. During the last year Cameron has been working through an official LTA qualification scheme to become a LTA level 3 coach at Hythe Lawn Tennis Club.

Here at ESTC Cameron is our Head Red Ball Coach (ages 5-7), ushering in the next generation of tennis players and future talent.

Cameron’s coaching style is very enthusiast, all encompassing and really strives to get the best out of his groups and individuals. Cameron is comfortable coaching all age groups and has a mature coaching style driven with an extremely positive approach. Since joining the team Oct 2017 he has established himself as a very popular coach since joining early 2018.

Henry Hall

Henry has coached tennis for nearly 4 years across the UK, Greece and Australia. With an extensive background in the game, he’s competed in the main draw of the Orange Bowl Junior World Championships and boasted a top 50 ranking in Europe for under 16’s. Having competed in over 15 different countries he has also had the luxury of training with Andy Murray, Jamie Murray and Greg Rusedski.

Henry has experience coaching all levels and abilities including wheelchair tennis after acting as hitting partner for Lucy Shuker (top 10 in the world for wheelchair tennis and Olympic bronze medallist). He also has experience in coaching junior development, junior performance, schools, cardio tennis, adult beginners, private clients and even celebrities. Henry has done it all along with improving two under 14-year-old juniors from outside top 200 ranking in the UK to inside the top 30 in 18 months.

Alistair(Ali) Powley

Ali is a new ESTC Senior Coach. Originally from the UK, he left his Head Coach role at a club in Tonbridge, UK, and offers 10 years of coaching experience. Ali has a natural rapport with kids and adults of all ages and abilities. He represented his club from a junior level all the way to the adult club teams. Entering tournaments and leagues sporadically around coaching. He also played club tournaments with his clients to broaden their match play experience and believes tournaments are the key drive to producing good tennis players.

Having played sports from a very young age, Ali’s coaching style focuses around enjoyment before progression. He loves teaching people who have a love for the game and a desire to improve, regardless of their ability. Whether it’s just a couple of times on holiday in the summer or weekly lessons. Ali will work towards your goals and help you reach them by making realistic plans for your game.

Ali holds the UK LTA Level 3 coaching qualification, a BSc in Sports Coaching, and is a qualified cardio tennis instructor.

Andre Fox-D’Alpuget

Andre was just four years old when he picked up a tennis racket. Since then he has played tennis at a competitive level representing both Scots College and Eastern Suburbs Interdistrict. Andre has transitioned well into the coaching side of the game. He has earned his ATPCA Pro Level 1 Certification with honours and is determined to bring his great knowledge of the game to his clients. He loves the creativity of improvising tennis skills and games to suit all levels. He thinks the best thing about coaching is helping people develop a life-long skill. His favourite thing about the club is the different personalities and welcoming atmosphere.

Ian Davis

A veteran of Eastern Suburbs Tennis Club and our very own legend of the game, Ian brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role as Senior Coach. At 75 years of age, Ian has been playing tennis at Coogee for more than 65 years! His achievements include NSW U/16 Champion and all divisions of Interdistrict as well as making several Australian Teams and Team Tennis Germany. He is the current World No. 21 for over 70’s and the current No. 2 Australian and Oceania over 70. Having commenced his coaching career at the tender age of 15, Ian has been coaching ever since and holds an ATPCA Level 2. His role model is Rod Laver and his favourite court to play on is Court 1 at Coogee. His coaching vision is to enable students to achieve a level to play and enjoy the great game of tennis. A true local, he loves the great people and great tennis that make up the club but can’t stand when things in the pro shop are not put back where they came from!

Zavia Leslie-Adams

Zavia started to play tennis at the age of 4 in the Eastern Suburbs. He loves all racket sports, such as tennis, squash, and badminton. Zavia is a laid-back individual who likes to compete. He represented the New South Wales team under 16s. 

He has ATPCA Level 1 certification and he enjoys assisting clients and kids to improve and progress to the next level. He always focuses on one thing during the lesson and brings it all together at the end.

He plans to get his ATPCA Level 2 certification to progress further in his tennis coaching career.

Bastien Durand

Bastien started playing tennis at Coogee Tennis Club when he was just 4 years old. His dad introduced him to tennis and his love for the sport led him to become a tennis coach. Bastien was coached by a seasoned veteran who achieved rank #1 in South Africa, he continued to participate in various sports, including basketball, performance powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, mixed Martial Arts and grew an emphasis on holistic health. Thanks to his healthy lifestyle and versatility, he has extensive sports performance expertise, which helps him convey his knowledge to his clients.

He is a Level 2 tennis coach whom loves performance and a drive to grow, he always aims to fulfil clients’ goals and satisfy them with their lessons, so they always come back.

Jack Grayer

Jack moved to Australia recently from South Wales after his coaching career in Turkey. He started to coach at the age of 13, and he has Level 3 qualification. In 2017, he was a captain of the Country Cup for South Wales.

He enjoys all his lessons with clients, whether it’s fun or competitive tennis.

Rob Allen

Rob has been coaching sports for over a decade, starting as a TA at his local tennis centre, working his way up and becoming an LTA Level 2 Tennis coach. At 18, Rob travelled to America to become a tennis coach at a summer camp, where after impressing, Rob was promoted to supervisor the following summer. Rob has since graduated from Bournemouth University with a degree in Sports Management, in which he achieved a 2.1. 

Rob’s post-graduate job was as a Sports coach working within Primary schools in North Devon where Rob taught 18 sports. 

Rob’s coaching style is very enthusiastic and high energy. He enjoys the creativity of bringing other sports into tennis to create an all-around athlete. In his spare time, you would find Rob out for a run or down the beach for a swim.
